Join us for our annual Pride Shabbat service celebrating our LGBTQ+ members and affirming that all people are created B’tzelem Elohim, in the image of God. The service will be led by members of our community with special readings and prayers along with Rabbi Immerman and Cantor Giglio.
Our service will feature Zeydi Gold-Shapiro, talking about "How do we live l'dor v'dor?: Preparing for a World We've Yet to Inhabit".
Our service will be outside weather permitting, and on Zoom, which is password protected. If you don’t know the password - participate via the live-stream
Zeydi Gold-Shapiro is a curious historian, Yiddishist, teacher, and translator living on Nipmuc, Pocumtuc, and Nonotuck land in so-called western Massachusetts. They can usually be found in dusty and/or digital archives poking around in the past, or up on stage, playing music with their klezmer band Burikes (“beets” in Yiddish) or performing in Yiddish archival-based spectacle theater projects. In addition to facilitating community parades and Jewish food and pickling workshops, they are an educator at Congregation B'nai Israel, a field fellow for the Yiddish Book Center's Wexler Oral History Project, and a trainer with Keshet. They love empowering people of all ages to build open, meaningful, and vibrant communities.
We will say the mi shebeirach, read the kaddish list, and recite the mourner’s kaddish. If you wish to add additional names to the mi shebeirach or kaddish list, please email Sarah Legassey by 12pm on Friday.
