Shabbat

Every Shabbat, people gather at CMI to pray together in a warm, welcoming Jewish community. We come together to share the joy of Shabbat and Festivals, to celebrate life’s wondrous events, to support each other at times of loss, and to make space in our lives for experiencing the sacred in moments of awe.

Shabbat Evening

Shabbat evening service times vary to meet as many people’s schedules as possible. Most services are held at 6:00 p.m and are preceded by an Oneg (reception) at 5:30 p.m. Once a month, a service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Family Services are held once a month and include birthday blessings. Each month during the school year, the Family Service will feature one or more of our Religious School classes.

Shabbat morning & b’nai mitzvah

Shabbat morning services are held at 10:00 a.m. on select Saturdays. B’nai Mitzvah services are held Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.

Tot Shabbat

Tot Shabbats are geared for families with children age 6 and under. Parents, guardians, grandparents and friends are welcome to join in these celebrations. In addition to blessings, stories, and singing, there’s always schmoozing and noshing.

Tot Shabbat is typically held on the first Friday night of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Summer Services

During the summer months, many Shabbat evening and morning services are led by members of the congregation.

Please visit our calendar for further information about services’ dates and times.

Shabbat Welcome Team

The Shabbat Welcome Team serves as greeters at Shabbat evening, b’nai mitzvah, and holiday services. Greeters aim to make regulars, new members, and visitors feel warmly welcomed. They introduce newcomers to other worshippers, orient those unfamiliar with our building, and help people find their place in the service, literally and figuratively!

INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED?

Being part of the Shabbat Welcome Team is a great way to meet other people and to bring a smile to someone’s face. No prior knowledge or experience is needed. We will provide an orientation for everything you need to know.

For more information or to become a greeter, contact Karen Kimball or Richard Shaw.

Shabbat Musicians

CMI members who are musicians often participate in services as musical guests. Please contact Cantor Giglio if you are interested in being a musician for Shabbat services.
