Building Our Bookshelves for Justice and Joy

Lauren Anderson, founder of Possible Futures bookstore and beloved community space, and President of the Board of the New Haven Public Library, will offer suggestions for books that address the needs and interests of readers of all ages with an emphasis on books that help us to better understand and learn from the past, thrive and grow in the present, and imagine and build a better, more sustainable, and socially just world. Her talk will prioritize authors and topics that have been historically underrepresented in publishing and on public shelves.

Books in all age categories by local and nationally known authors will be available to order in time for Hannukah giving!! Age-appropriate books addressing racial justice and gender diversity and exploring cultural and religious traditions will be featured through a curated collection of books, including novels and graphic novels, poetry, picture books, memoirs, social commentary, history and more!

CMI Brotherhood of Men and Women will offer bagels and coffee for purchase.
