Ongoing Programs
Abraham’s Table
As an extension of our interfaith work, CMI began dialogues with our counterparts of the Turkish-American community in 2008. In additional to panel discussions with representatives of the three Abrahamic traditions, members from CMI, the Turkish Cultural Center and local churches have joined together for friendship meals. We hope our work together eventually will lead to an interfaith visit to Turkey.
Life is Delicious
Life is Delicious gets together one to two Sundays each month to cook for Columbus House’s regular and overflow shelters, the Ronald McDonald House and others in need. Congregants and their children are invited to join in the fun and help with the cooking or just come and schmooze.
Clothing Drive
Year round, congregants are encouraged to clear their closets and homes of new and gently used clothing and bring them to the donation bin at the Temple. All items are donated to the Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in New Haven, which provides them free of charge to those in need.
Caring Community
The Caring Community plans and coordinates activities to assist members of the synagogue. Typical activities include providing rides to doctor appointments, making visits and calls, cooking meals, doing grocery shopping, leading shiva and other services outside the synagogue.
