Update From the CMI Rabbinic Search Committee Co-Chairs

This past Sunday, March 3, over 100 congregants welcomed Rabbi Daniel Schaefer home to CMI!  Rabbi Schaefer addressed the Special Congregational Meeting before they voted to affirm the Board's decision to hire him - and the vote was unanimous! You can use this link to view Rabbi Schaefer's comments at the Congregational Meeting, giving everyone a chance to get to know him a little better before he joins us on July 1, 2024.

Prior to the Congregational Meeting, the CMI religious school kids warmly welcomed Rabbi Daniel with some tough questions! During a special "Ask the Rabbi" portion of their weekly Tfila service, kids shared what THEY wanted to know about him. Among their questions were: Do you like cats? Do you like animals? How tall are you? What are your top five favorite plants? What kind of dog do you have and do you like pomeranians? Do you play sports? Where would you most like to travel? What is your favorite food? Have you been to Israel? How well do you know my mom? Is your favorite singer Taylor Swift? Do you like Dinonuggets? Do you like swimming? and What was your last job? Rabbi Daniel got a taste of what he is in for at CMI.

So, what's next? Julie Chevan will be coordinating many of the transition activities throughout the summer and into September - opportunities that will help congregants of all ages get to know Rabbi Schaefer. Stay tuned to future e-news posts for updates. We can't wait to welcome Rabbi Schaefer this summer!

L’ Shalom,

Sarah Greenblatt & Michael Dimenstein
